Poll launched over Lake Vyrnwy sale
Monday 1st November 2010, 8:02PM GMT.
An opinion poll of people living around Lake Vyrnwy has been launched in a bid to get their views on its sale heard. The estate, owned by utilities giant Severn Trent, is on the market with a multi-million pound price tag.
Its sale is likely to have a huge impact on residents.
Concern that their views have not been asked for by the sellers or potential buyers, has prompted Llanwddyn Community Council to send out a questionnaire.
In a letter accompanying the survey forms, community council chairman John Roberts says: “The Lake Vyrnwy Estate is currently being sold by Severn Trent along with many properties and farms occupied by local families.
“Offers have been tendered, and it will soon be time for Severn Trent to consider to whom to sell the estate. As your community council, we have continually pushed for the people of Llanwddyn and the Vyrnwy valley to be heard.
“We had believed that the community would be consulted on a formal basis. Despite fine words however, this now appears unlikely.
“We believe it is ab- solutely right that the community are asked there opinions, wishes and worries concerning the sale.
“This is an event that will undoubtedly have a huge impact, positive or negative upon the lives of the people here.”
Mr Roberts asked the forms to be returned by Saturday. He said the results would be collated and sent to Severn Trent and other relevant parties.
He said all views would remain anonymous.
