Giant pumpkin stolen from north Shropshire farm
Thursday 28th October 2010, 7:59PM BST.
A giant pumpkin weighing four stone has been stolen from outside a north Shropshire farm.
The vegetable, carved into lantern, was advertising a Halloween event at Fordhall Farm, near Market Drayton. It was taken from the end of the farm driveway next to the A53.
Police today appealed for information.
It was being used to promote a Halloween family event at the farm on Saturday called Fun and Frights on the Farm.
Hannah Smith, a spokeswoman for the farm, said: “The giant pumpkin, nicknamed Jackie with its huge, black jack-o-lantern face, was placed there to advertise the event, which ultimately raises money for the charity.
“Fordhall have decided to offer a reward of free tickets to Saturday’s spooky event for anyone that helps leads to the pumpkin’s safe return,” she added.
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0300 333 3000, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
