£5,000 cigarette raid on Telford newsagents
Monday 25th October 2010, 9:00AM BST.
Burglars on a motorbike smashed their way into a Shropshire newsagents and fled with £5,000 worth of cigarettes in the latest in a series of raids.
Two men on a motocross-style bike rode up to the newsagents on Haybridge Road in Hadley at around 3.25am yesterday and forced open the roller shutter doors, police said.
One stayed with the bike, while the other smashed his way through the glass door and filled a bag with up to £5,000 worth of tobacco products.
The pair, dressed in dark clothing, fled on the bike along Whitchurch Drive towards Shawbirch.
Yesterday’s burglary comes just four days after two men on a motorbike targeted a newsagents on Hills Lane Drive in Madeley and fled with £150 of cigarettes.
The same shop was then targeted again in the early hours of Friday when three men were seen arriving on a motorbike and fleeing with up to £1,000 in cigarettes.
