Lighting fault shuts Cosford’s Cold War exhibition

The multi-award winning National Cold War Exhibition at RAF Museum at Cosford has been closed to the public after a fault was discovered in the lighting system.

The huge attraction is expected to remain shut throughout next week’s half-term holiday and for a few weeks afterwards to allow essential repairs to be carried out.

General manager Alex Medhurst said the fault was discovered during a routine, annual maintenance inspection.

He said: “The decision to temporarily close the National Cold War Exhibition has been made because of concerns over the lighting.

”The problem, which was identified through a routine inspection, affects the lighting supports in the building and regrettably we have had to close it temporarily.
“The museum’s other hangar displays, with some 50 aircraft on show, are still available to visitors.
