Shropshire hotel worker jailed for having sex with girl, 14
Wednesday 20th October 2010, 9:00PM BST.
A Shropshire hotel worker has been jailed for a year and put on the sex register for having sex with a 14-year-old-girl. Mold Crown Court heard that Aaron Coulson caused the schoolgirl great trauma.
The 21-year-old had unprotected sex with the girl, despite having suffered a sexually transmitted disease.
The victim had to undergo embarrassing tests and did not feel that she could trust anyone again, the court was told.
Coulson, of Gibbon Street, Oswestry, admitted a charge of sexual activity with a child. He was also placed on the sex offender’s register for 10 years.
Defence barrister Mr Myles Wilson claimed that the infection had been successfully treated before the defendant had sex with the girl.
Judge John Rogers QC said that he was satisfied that at the time Coulson did not have such an infection and no infection was passed on.
But the defendant had not given the girl any warning and did not attempt to protect her from such a risk.
Sentencing him, the judge said that he had taken advantage of a young girl.
Mr James Coutts, prosecuting, said it had been humiliating and embarrassing to undergo tests and intimate examinations to ensure she had no sexually transmitted disease.
Myles Wilson, defending, said that the defendant had admitted what he had done.
The defendant was a worker in a hotel restaurant. He had expressed remorse for what he had done.
