Theatre Severn show will help Shrewsbury explosion victim Kiley

A benefit show for a performer who was left paralysed after the Shrewsbury explosion will take place tomorrow night at the town’s new theatre.

Tickets for the fundraiser in aid of panto star Kiley McDonnell sold out in record time after going on sale earlier this year.

The performance of Kiley’s Big Night Out, at the Theatre Severn, will see a number of celebrities taking to the stage including Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh and former Emmerdale bad boy Matt Healy.

The show will also feature Mr McDonnell himself in a performance including singers, comedians and dancers from across Britain as well as some well-known faces.

Theatre bosses have branded it one of the fastest-selling shows on record at the venue.

Manager Peter Nicholson said: “We are absolutely delighted by the wonderful support shown by the people of Shropshire for Kiley and this event.

“People travelled from across the county to queue for tickets.”

Mr McDonnell was starring in the Theatre Severn production of Peter Pan when he was injured on January 3.

He was undergoing rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire earlier this year when his family confirmed he had been told by doctors that he would spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

I was in panto with Kiley and he is one of the nicest people I have ever met and I am so looking forward to seeing the show tomorrow and hope it raises lots of money for him.
