Pledge in Audlem lorry dispute
Friday 15th October 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Shropshire residents fed up with lorries which they claim are blocking their village say they will start naming and shaming offending companies online.
People are even being encouraged to take pictures of the HGVs to post on the Audlem village website.
Parish councillors have vowed to contact truck companies whose vehicles regularly drive through the village near Market Drayton and urge them to take alternative routes.
Work is also under way to try to have weight limits imposed on one or more of Audlem’s bridges as the most effective way to discourage lorry drivers from entering the village.
Anyone who sees a particular firm’s truck regularly passing through the village can let members of Audlem Parish Council know or e-mail a message to editor@audlem.org
Alternatively, they are being asked to take landscape photographs.
An online poll on the village website suggests that 93 per cent of people are in favour of weight limits.
