Police appeal over death of Telford man Stephen Round
Thursday 14th October 2010, 4:12PM BST.
Detectives investigating the death of a Telford man whose body was found at a landfill site today appealed for a witness to get in touch.
Stephen Round’s body was found at the site on Grange Lane, near Granville Country Park, just before 11.30am on July 2.
But police believe the 43-year-old died at an address in Church Street, St Georges, on June 27, the day of the England versus Germany World Cup match.
Detective Sergeant Mark Bellamy said: “The man is simply a witness we are keen to speak to so we can establish whether he has any information that could help our investigation.
“He was seen to arrive at the Church Street address just before midnight on Saturday, June 26 and, on entering the flat, he approached Mr Round, shook his hand and said ‘Hi Steve’. It appears this man only stayed at the flat for a short while before leaving in the early hours of Sunday.”
He is described as white, aged in his late 20s, about 5ft 9inches tall and of slim build. He is also described as a having blond, shaved hair, thin eyes and a local accent.
“This man or anyone who knows him is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.”
lTwo women and a man have appeared in court and denied Mr Round’s murder.
