Safety works for Oswestry to Welshpool A483 road
Tuesday 12th October 2010, 7:00PM BST.
Work is to be carried out to improve safety on the main road between Oswestry and Welshpool.
The A483 road will be closed at night for two weeks while work to resurface a mile stretch at Upper Sweeney, near Oswestry, is carried out, the Highways Agency announced today.
The project will start on October 18 and should be completed in two weeks.
The Agency said delays to motorists between Llynclys Hall Farm and the Ty Stanley junction near Oswestry would be kept to a minimum.
Momataz Begum, Highways Agency project sponsor, said: “The resurfacing will be carried out in both directions and once complete, it will improve safety for road users and provide a quieter road surface.”
The work will be carried out Monday to Friday between 9pm and 6am.
During the work, the A483 will be closed and a fully signposted diversion route put in place.
The southbound diversion will go from the A438/A5 island onto the A5 then B4396 before rejoining the A483 at Llynclys. Northbound is the reverse of this route.
Momataz Begum added: “The Highways Agency is committed to minimising delays when carrying out road improvements.
“This resurfacing work will ensure the carriageway is maintained in good condition and improve safety for road users.”
