Detectives were today continuing to question two men arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a 31-year-old man was found at a flat in Telford. Magistrates yesterday granted detectives more time to question the men, aged 37 and 24.
It follows the discovery of the body of factory worker Pavol Lazar at the flat in Farm Lodge Grove, Malinslee, on Friday. A postmortem examination revealed he died of head injuries.
Detectives today said the body had been formally identified yesterday afternoon and his family from the Czech Republic had been informed.
Mr Lazar had just graduated from Telford’s GKN Sankey and was due to take up a full-time position in the factory.
Detective Inspector John Elcock, of Telford CID, today said: “The two men arrested on suspicion of the murder of Pavol Lazar remain in police custody after Telford magistrates granted extra time yesterday afternoon.
“A number of people have come forward but we would urge anybody who has not yet contacted police to do so as a matter of urgency if they have any information about what happened at the flat in the early hours of Friday when we believe an altercation took place.
“More than 20 detectives are still working on the case and the flat remains under scene guard.”
It is understood Mr Lazar lived at various addresses in the Malinslee and Brookside areas.
Colleagues at GKN Sankey yesterday described Mr Lazar as “very popular and hardworking”.
