Ten people were led to safety by firefighters after a suspected arson attack on a shop in Shrewsbury town centre today.

Firefighters were called to Windsor Place just before 1.30am after a fire broke out in a wheelie bin which is understood to have been put into the doorway at the back of the Multiyork furniture store.

    Me and the girfriend were 2 that were led to safety….nearlly had a burnt face when a gush of fire went past our front door to the flat when i tried to get out!!!

    The Fire Brigade and the Police last night were absolutely excellent, and a huge thanks to Jan Duck who came out in her dressing gown all the way from Watergate Mansions to alert everyone in our block in Castle Street.
