Plans unveiled for refurbishment of Oswestry’s Orthopaedic Hospital
Friday 8th October 2010, 11:01AM BST.
Plans for a major refurbishment of Oswestry’s Orthopaedic Hospital, including a new main entrance, have been unveiled.
The redesign was presented to the hospital trust board yesterday and also includes the demolition of the nurses’ home and the centralisation of several services.
And the refurbishment will allow the hospital, the largest employer in the Oswestry area, to catch up with a backlog of maintenance work, the board was told. Trust bosses say although they can’t reveal the overall cost of the project yet because it is commercially sensitive, the rebuild is a major scheme for the hospital.
Hospital operations director David James said the new main entrance would be a huge improvement.
He said: “It will provide a central reception for patients so they can see where to go.”
The redesign is set to get under way next month.
