Three arrested over Shrewsbury Herongate arson attacks
Thursday 7th October 2010, 9:45AM BST.
Three youths have been arrested in connection with a spate of arson attacks at homes on a Shrewsbury housing estate.
The three were arrested by police on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life yesterday following fires at four homes during the past 10 days on the Herongate estate.
The latest incident in the early hours of yesterday saw paper set alight before being pushed through a letterbox at a house in Thornton Road.
West Mercia Police spokesman Richard Ewels said the three had been released on bail last night and were due to return later today for further questioning.
The other three fires on Herongate were at Camross Drive on September 27 and at two different premises in Lapwood Drive on September 30 and October 1. All four incidents have been late at night or during the early hours.
Mr Ewels added: “This continues to be a priority inquiry.
“Our investigations are continuing and we have renewed appeals for any information which might be connected to the fires.”
