A budding Shropshire film maker faces an anxious wait to see if she has won a national challenge which invites competitors to remake a Hollywood blockbuster in seven seconds.
Sarah Forshaw, 22, from Hinstock, near Market Drayton re-enacted a scene from 1986 American action movie Top Gun, which starred Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis, in the competition organised by Microsoft.
Software bosses visited The Trafford Centre in Manchester on Saturday with a mobile film studio in the hope of unearthing the next Steven Spielberg or George Lucas.
The challenge invites competitors to make their own mini versions of film hits in a mere seven seconds. Microsoft is visiting various locations around the country this month in a bid to find the best film maker.
Miss Forshaw was helped to make the movie by her boyfriend Gareth Maddock, 21, of Winsford, Cheshire.
She said: “We only came to the shopping centre to buy a dress for a party and ended up making our own film.
“It looked like everybody was having such a good time making their own movies that I wanted to have a go and persuaded Gareth to join me.
“He loves Top Gun, so there was never another option as far as we were concerned. I put on a blonde wig and played his love interest and flying instructor. Hopefully we have created a winner.”
Their entry will go against hundreds of others in the Windows 7 Seven Second Movie challenge and the best one will be screened at this year’s BFI London Film Festival.
The winner will get to walk the red carpet before their film is screened in front of a live audience ahead of the premiere of British movie The First Grader on October 26.
