The ultimate in glamour wowed a packed Theatre Severn as Shropshire Sparkles brought together some of the county’s top fashion labels for a catwalk show to remember.

The event, held yesterday, raised vital funds for Hope House Children’s Hospice. Organised by bridal designer Hayley J in conjunction with the Shropshire Star and Hope House, it also featured some of the area’s finest food producers and giftware specialists.

Guests browsing the stalls before and after the runway display declared the event a resounding success.

Lynette Beedles, from Pontesbury, said her family had benefited from the support of the Hope House team and she was delighted to be at the fundraiser.

“It’s a really lovely event and we are here because we owe a great deal to Hope House and we want to support it in every which way we can,” she added.

Lucy Cartwright, from Condover, said it was very positive to see so many familiar Shropshire names come together to help Hope House. “What a treat to spend a Sunday afternoon at an event like this and to be able to help such a special place as Hope House at the same time is great,” she said.

The High Sheriff of Shropshire Hugh Trevor-Jones praised the organisers for helping to showcase the best of Shropshire and the team of young volunteers helping out during the afternoon selling raffle tickets. “It’s wonderful to see young people getting involved in events like this and to see so many people come out to support the efforts to raise funds for Hope House,” he added.

The highlight of the afternoon was a catwalk show which opened with a collection of autumn and winter must-haves from Quelque Chose, followed by designs from Jane Dyas, clothes for the younger fashionista from Pied Piper, gorgeous lingerie from Mystique, bang-on-trend essentials from Jaeger, with a sumptuous finale of bridal gowns from Hayley J.

Hayley thanked all the sponsors including Alan Ward, Cute Tips and Peakes Travel Elite together with the exhibitors.

Claire Moore, from Peakes Travel, said they were delighted to be associated with Shropshire Sparkles.
