Bridgnorth drivers targeted in police crackdown
Thursday 16th September 2010, 7:00PM BST.
Drivers have been hit with fines and penalty points for speeding and using mobile phones in and around Bridgnorth following a police crackdown.
More than half of those stopped by officers in yesterday’s operation on the A454 in the Hilton, Button Oak and Alveley areas received three penalty points and a £60 fine, police said today.
Constable Laura Finch said 30 offences were dealt with, including 17 which led to fixed penalty tickets.
The majority of offences were for speeding and holding mobiles. She said: “The purpose of the operation was to identify drivers who flagrantly break the law.”
Others were driving without insurance, defect documentation, not having tax, carrying a bladed article and carrying scrap without a licence.
