Wallet thief takes £4000 from Shropshire man’s account

A man who was working at Telford’s International Centre had his wallet stolen and £4,000 taken from his account.
The victim was in the centre when he noticed his bag had been tampered with and his wallet was missing.
After calling his bank to report the theft of his card, he was informed £4,000 was handed over to the thief by bank staff.
The 29-year-old was in the centre on St Quentin Gate on July 12 and believes the theft took place sometime between 1.30pm and 3pm.
Constable Lynda Talbot, from Malinsgate Police Station, said the bag was in the room he was working in and about 25 to 30 people had access to the area.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: “On calling his bank he was shocked to discover that £4,000 in cash had been withdrawn from his account at the Lloyds TSB Bank in Kidderminster.
“It goes without saying that we are keen to identify this man so that we can make inquiries about how the card came to be in his possession and what he has done with the money.
“It is worth stating that the bank has reimbursed the victim the £4,000 and is also investigating this theft.”
The man who entered the bank was described as white, with a stocky build, a round face and wearing a dark coloured flat cap, dark coloured three-quarter length wax jacket, dark trousers, black shoes, blue shirt and a blue and white stripped tie.
