Motorists faced lengthy rush-hour delays after two crashes on roads on the outskirts of Shrewsbury today.
In the first incident, three people were taken to hospital following a collision involving two cars on the B5062 near to the Sundorne Island at 7.45am.
The road was closed because of debris and an oil spill, with traffic not beginning to move until about 9am. The injured people were taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Elsewhere, a four vehicle crash on the A53 just off the Battlefield Island also added to the traffic problems at about 8.15am. Police said two women suffered back and neck injuries.
Meanwhile, a driver was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital with whiplash after a one-vehicle crash on the M54 in Telford.
The accident happened between junctions four at the Shifnal services and junction five at the town centre at about 8.20am.
And in Mid Wales, motorists faced early morning delays following an accident on the A458 at Cefn Bridge, near Buttington, at about 7am.
