Shrewsbury alleyway robbery for just £1.70
Friday 10th September 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Two men were robbed in a Shrewsbury alleyway for just £1.70, police said today. Officers are now trying to trace three men who robbed them, getting away with virtually nothing.
The incident happened at about 11.35pm last night while the victims walked through Egland Lane, an alley in Longden Coleham near the Cross Foxes pub.
They were approached by the group, who asked for cigarettes and engaged in conversation. But they then demanded money and threatened the two with violence if they did not comply.
One of the victims handed over all he had – £1.70 – and the offenders made off. No violence was used.
Detective Sergeant Mark Hill, of Shrewsbury CID, today appealed for any information on the incident.
One offender was about 5ft 9in, of medium build and with dark hair. He was in a dark blue hooded top with a zip and dark tracksuit bottoms. The second was 5ft 8in and stockier. He had shaven, ginger hair and was wearing a cream zip-up top and dark tracksuit bottoms.
The third was medium build and 5ft 9in with short, dark or black hair, a stubbled chin and wore a dark zip-up top and dark bottoms.
