Drugs and guns found at address in Oakengates, Telford
Friday 3rd September 2010, 2:05PM BST.
Three men have been arrested after police raided a house in Telford today and seized drugs and a number of guns.
A team of 15 officers burst into a property in Holyhead Road, Oakengates, at 8am today following a tip-off.
Police discovered a small amount of a Class A drug – believed to be amphetamine – being stored in a freezer and also seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition.
Officers are now trying to establish whether the guns are legally owned.
Three men – aged 59, 36 and 26 – have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug and were today in custody being questioned by police.
Sergeant Rebecca Bishop said: “This operation was a real team effort involving 15 officers from a number of teams.”
She said it was the fourth warrant police had executed in the last month and the raids were all connected to Crimestoppers tip-offs.
“We would encourage anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes – or criminality of any sort – to call us immediately.”
Anyone with information about drugs is urged to call police directly on 0300 333 3000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
