Shrewsbury stab victim’s condition is improving

A man stabbed outside a Shropshire nightclub is out of intensive care and his condition is said to be improving, his mother said today.

Luke Rawlings was attacked by three men in Shrewsbury’s Mardol on Sunday night.

He was stabbed in the street outside Topcats bar while on a night out with a friend.

Mr Rawlings was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and later transferred to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke.

The 22-year-old’s mother, Lynn, of Armdale, off Robertson Way, Shrewsbury, where Luke also lives with his older brother Shaun, 24, said he was on the road to recovery after being transferred out of intensive care.

She said: “He’s very sore but yesterday he left intensive care and he’s got a bit more colour in him.

“I phoned up the hospital this morning and they said he’d had a better night but he is still very uncomfortable.

“They will be keeping him in for a few more days and we don’t know if they will then transfer him to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”

She added: “He’s a strong lad but we’re surprised he’s out of intensive care so fast.

“Hopefully he will start to improve every day now.”

Police have renewed appeals for witnesses.
