A man who was stabbed outside a Shropshire nightclub remained in intensive care today. Luke Rawlings was attacked by three men in Shrewsbury’s Mardol on Sunday night.
He was stabbed as he stood opposite Topcats bar and Mr Rawlings, who is understood to be in his early 20s, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and later transferred to the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary in Stoke.
Staff on the cardiac intensive care ward today said he was “comfortable”.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward and officers are understood to be examining CCTV footage given to them by staff at Topcats nightclub.
Bosses of the club said the victim of the stabbing was a customer at Topcats before the incident took place shortly after 10pm and club workers looked after him after the attack.
Keith Cooke, the bar owner, said police and emergency services had thanked them for their assistance at the scene.
He said Mr Rawlings was stabbed very close to the heart before he stumbled over to the nightclub asking staff for help.
Doormen looked after him until emergency services arrived, along with a customer at the bar who was a registered nurse.
Mr Cooke said: “Some lads were walking down the opposite side of the road to our club, there was a fracas and a lad was stabbed.
“He came across the road and we looked after him until the ambulance and police came. It’s a good job we did because they told us he might not have made it.”
