Concern over low ceiling at sports centre
Friday 27th August 2010, 1:20AM BST.
People using a trampoline at a new Shropshire leisure centre today claimed they could bang their heads on the ceiling if they bounce too high because the roof is too low.
Concerns have been raised about the trampolines on the upper floor of Much Wenlock Leisure Centre, which opened just 10 says ago.
However, Shropshire Council has stressed the trampolines are perfectly safe to use.
One user of the centre, who did not want to be named, said: “The trampoline downstairs is fine. There is plenty of room to bounce there with no problems at all.
“The trouble is with the upstairs trampolines. I don’t think anyone thought anything about the clearance that would be needed and users now fear they could bang their heads on the ceiling if they bounce too high.”
The council’s spokesman Simon Alton said the trampolines were understood to have been installed during construction of the building.
He added: “They are safe to use. The facts are that there are two standard trampolines in the gym upstairs, which can be used and are perfectly safe for teaching, despite the headroom being a bit tight.
“There is also a Goliath trampoline in the main sports hall which has plenty of headroom for competition.”

So the simple answer to this non story is. Don’t bounce so high!! Be thank full that you have the facility in the first place and make do with what you have and stop moaning.

the Non Story!! the question is who came up with the design criteria, if it was the council then the blame lies soley with the council, if it was in the design criteria then the blame lies fully with the contractor so payment should be with held. this being said, it is a public building so problems like this should be highlighted to the shropshire tax payers

Brand new sports facilities and they still have something to moan about. The new facilities are superb in Much Wenlock.
