Sports writer Peter Baxter will speak at this year’s Wellington Literary Festival in October.
Baxter, a former producer of BBC radio’s Test Match Special, has written half-a-dozen books including the recently-published Inside the Box.
An Evening with Peter Baxter will be on October 7 at New College and is free but a ticket-only event.
The festival has been organised by the literary committee of Wellington Town Council.
Lisa Haggitt, the town clerk’s assistant, said: “Wellington Town Council is delighted to announce its booking of sports writer Peter Baxter to speak at this year’s Festival in October.
“Peter was producer of the great cricket institution Test Match Special for BBC Radio for 34 years.
“During his tenure at Test Match Special, he worked alongside the legendary John Arlott, the inimitable Brian Johnston and the unforgettable Henry Blofeld and ushered in new faces such as Jonathan Agnew, who continue to entertain, inform and charm listeners today.”
“Peter has spent a lifetime in radio broadcasting and is the author of half a dozen books, including the recently published Inside the Box, touted by many in the trade as the cricket book of the year.”
All events at the festival are free, though some are ticketed. Programmes and tickets from the town council office at the civic centre, or by calling (01952) 597696.
