CCTV clue to man who raided Telford company twice

Wednesday 25th August 2010, 1:58PM BST.

Bosses at the office supplies business stepped up their security but one week later the man returned with the same lorry and took a second skip which was chained up.

This thief stole two skips worth £6,000 from a Shropshire company in separate raids within days, writes Crime Correspondent Kirsty Smallman.

The man drove a lorry into Chrisbeon Office Supplies on Stafford Park 4, Telford, and loaded the skip before driving away.

The first, a 30m blue Holland’s Recycling skip, was stolen shortly before 7am on July 25.

Bosses at the office supplies business stepped up their security but one week later the man returned with the same lorry and took a second skip which was chained up. He cut the chain and loaded the skip between 6.30am and 7.15am on August 1.

The thefts from the back of the premises were captured on CCTV which police are now examining. The eight-axle lorry used to take the skips on both occasions had a white cab with a large red hook on the back and had a pink trailer.

Richard Hughes, partner at Chrisbeon Office Supplies, said the thefts had caused a huge inconvenience to the company and had forced them to step up their security.

Telford police can be contacted on 0300 333 3000.
