Injured driver airlifted after Shropshire crash

A woman in her 40s was airlifted to hospital following a three-vehicle crash in Shropshire on the same stretch of road where a motorcyclist died less than 24 hours earlier.
Paramedics treated the woman for her injuries as firefighters cut off the roof of the Mini Cooper she was driving to get her out of the vehicle yesterday afternoon.
The accident happened on the B5062 near Haughton at the junction for Upton Magna, near Shrewsbury.
The woman suffered serious lower leg injuries was taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, a man suffered a serious head injury after the silver Vauxhall Astra he was driving collided with a tree.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident on the A53 near Astley, just north of Shrewsbury, at about 2.15pm yesterday.
Amblance service spokeswoman Claire Thomas said the man was given oxygen and taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
The accidents happened after three people died and a driver was injured in three separate crashes on roads in Shropshire on Sunday.
A cyclist in his 50s was found lying injured next to his bike in Ryton Road, Beckbury, near Shifnal, just after 12.30pm. The man, who died in hospital, is und- erstood to be from Bilston.
Elsewhere, a man in his 60s from the West Midlands died after a collision on the A483 close to the Mile End roundabout, near Oswestry.
Another motorcyclist died in a four-vehicle collision on the B5062 at Uffington near Shrewsbury, at 9.20pm.
