A bumper crowd refused to be put off by the rain at the Shropshire Game and Country Fair over the weekend.

Falcons and ferrets wowed young visitors at Chetwynd Park in Newport while there was also the chance to participate in clay pigeon shooting, archery and novelty dog shows.

Star turn was TV’s Chris “The Countryman” Green, who put on several displays and demonstrations over the two days.

A spokesman for the show said: “It was a fantastic two days.

“We had a little bit of rain on the Saturday and it was forecast for Sunday, although that turned out to be a glorious day and definitely boosted the numbers.

“We tried to make sure there was something for everyone and it was great to see so many youngsters there.”
