Thieves taking charity bags in Oswestry
Thursday 12th August 2010, 12:20PM BST.
Thieves have stolen charity bags put out in Oswestry for the PDSA veterinary charity.
Householders had put the pink sacks on their doorsteps ready for collection.
But when an official collector visited the town and others in the area to collection them he found that most of them had already been taken.
A bogus collector – a man in a red van – was seen picking up charity bags in the early hours of August 5.
The sacks were full of donated items, such as clothes, toys, home furnishings and books. The veterinary charity is now urging people to be vigilant.
The stock was destined for the Wrexham PDSA store. Rose Morris, manager, said: “The store has lost out on valuable donations that would have helped raise vital funds for poorly pets.”
