Tern Hill pub to reopen
Wednesday 11th August 2010, 11:29AM BST.
A well-known north Shropshire pub is on the brink of new ownership after being put up for sale earlier this year with a £295,000 price tag, it emerged today.
The Stormy Petrel, at Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, went on the market in March.
Now agents handling the sale say “established publicans” who run a pub in Staffordshire are poised to sign a deal to buy it and get it back up and running.
Robin Mence, managing director of Sidney Phillips, which is handling the sale, said today: “The sale should be completed any day now.
“The buyers are a private couple who are established publicans with a pub in Staffordshire.
“The pub went up for sale in March and they agreed to buy it quite quickly.
“It’s their plan to get it back up and running soon.”
Mr Mence refused to reveal how much the pub was being bought for but he confirmed it had been sold by pub company Admiral Taverns, which owns scores of licensed premises nationwide.
The pub, which was a popular haunt for bikers who used the car park for meets, has been boarded up after the last licensee moved away.
