Pontesford Hill fund already at £23,500
Wednesday 11th August 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Villagers campaigning to save a Shropshire hill from developers have got off to an incredible start by raising £23,500 in just a few weeks.
The Friends of Pontesford Hill was formed in June by residents with the support of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust.
They fear the beauty spot, in Pontesbury, near Shrewsbury, could be bought by a commercial buyer.
John Hughes, of Shropshire Wildlife Trust, said: “We need to raise at least £100,000 to buy the hill.”
