Park Hall staff welcome new arrival
Tuesday 10th August 2010, 8:01AM BST.
Staff at an Oswestry tourist attraction have welcomed a new arrival – a newborn Highland calf. The baby heifer was caught on camera just hours after its birth at Park Hall Countryside Experience yesterday morning.
It is the first calf to be born this year from the eight-strong herd but another one is expected in the next couple of weeks.
This little one is still without a name and Rachel Mottram, education officer, said they might ask visiting children for suggestions.
“We haven’t got a name for her yet,” she said. “It is a long-hair calf and is very woolly-looking. It is really cute.”
Mrs Mottram said the calf was settling in nicely.
“It is a really strong calf and is running round and following its mother. It is a special occasion for everyone. Everyone is very excited.”
Members of staff at Park Hall Countryside Experience will rear the cow which will then stay at the attraction.
They are urging people to go along and say hello.
Park Hall Countryside Experience is a tourist attraction which provides hands-on animal activities.
It has two indoor playbarns, outdoor play areas, museums, exhibitions and other activities.
