Lake Vyrnwy bidder details staying secret
Tuesday 10th August 2010, 9:00AM BST.
Details of potential buyers for the 23,000-acre Lake Vyrnwy estate in Mid Wales will be kept under wraps until at least the autumn.
The sale by Severn Trent includes agriculture, forestry and commercial property around the lake – but not the lake itself. The price tag has been set at £11 million.
Today a spokesman from the water company said estate agent Knight Frank, acting for the company, would not be giving out information of those interested in buying the site until the autumn.
Residents have set up a co-operative campaign to try to buy the estate and ideas have been put forward to create an all-Wales national savings bank in a bid to buy it for the nation.
A Facebook page supporting the initiative has now reached nearly 800 members.
A second public meeting, organised by Llanwddyn Community Council, will be held at the Llanwddyn Community Centre on August 31 to inform people of developments.
