Hope on Market Drayton Woolworths site

Monday 9th August 2010, 10:52AM BST.

A string of businesses have expressed an interest in buying the former Woolworths store in Market Drayton, a councillor revealed today.

The store, in High Street, has been closed since December 2008 and has left town councillors keen to see the premises put back into use.

Shropshire Council had also expressed an interest in buying the building to use as an archive for council records. But following the emergence of a number of interested businesses, council chiefs now appear to have pulled out.

No-one from the marketing agents, Cushman & Wakefield, was available to comment today.
