McFall family inquests to be held in September
Wednesday 4th August 2010, 12:12PM BST.
The inquests of Shropshire schoolgirl Frankie McFall and her parents will be held next month, it was revealed today. The hearing is expected to reveal what led Hugh McFall to kill his family.
He killed his 18-year-old daughter and wife, Susan, before killing himself.
The bodies of Frankie and her 56-year-old mother were discovered at their home in Hampton Road in Oswestry on February 5, before Mr McFall’s body was discovered hours later at his business in St Martins.
The hearing will be held at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court before Mid and North West Shropshire coroner, Mr John Ellery, on September 1.
A huge murder investigation was launched by police after the bodies of the women were found after a call was made to police.
An inquest opening held after the deaths revealed how further inquiries saw officers go to an industrial unit in Ellesmere Road, St Martins, where the body of Mr McFall, 48, was found.
It was found at Growing Places – a unit rented by Mr McFall. Post-mortem examinations showed Mrs McFall and Frankie died from head injuries. Mr McFall died as a result of hanging. Police described the deaths as a “family tragedy”.
Speculation over what led Mr McFall to murder his wife and daughter sparked reports that the businessman was in financial difficulty, although fellow traders said he was in the middle of a huge expansion at the time of his death.
Friends of Oswestry School pupil Frankie were left devastated by her death and a school ball was postponed and held later as a memorial event.
Mrs McFall leaves two children from a previous relationship, Nicola and Daniel, who were left devastated by the deaths.
