North Shropshire dairy in jobs hope

Dairy bosses today unveiled plans to expand its distribution depot in north Shropshire which could create 40 jobs.
Robert Wiseman Dairies has applied to Shropshire Council for permission to expand its premises on land off Adderley Road, Market Drayton.
The company currently operates a milk transfer facility from the site and wants to expand so it can secure new business.

Robert Wiseman Dairies has applied to Shropshire Council for permission to expand its premises on land off Adderley Road, Market Drayton.
The company currently operates a milk transfer facility from the site and wants to expand so it can secure new business.
It collects milk from more than 400 farms in north Shropshire, north Staffordshire and Cheshire.
The scheme involves constructing a new milk transfer canopy, office, staff amenities building, vehicle hard standing, fencing and lighting.
The firm currently employs 103 people and if council chiefs give proposals the go ahead, one part-time and 39 full-time and positions could be created.
In a report on behalf of the applicant it says: “The company has identified a need to increase the capacity for milk transfer at the site.
“This can be achieved by constructing a new tanker canopy, which will allow the company to procure new contracts with local dairy farmers and to increase production at its Droitwich and Manchester dairies.
“Forty additional members of staff are anticipated as a result .”
The closing date for comments is August 19.
