Boy, 16, arrested in Shrewsbury police drug raids

Three people, including a 16-year-old youth, were arrested by police carrying out drug warrants at two homes in Shrewsbury today.

Sixteen officers, including a dog handler, carried out searches at addresses in Grafton Mews in Harlescott Grange and at Pool Rise, in Springfield.

Inspector Simon Lewis, who led the police team, said the teenage youth and a woman in her 20s were arrested at a house in Grafton Mews on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. Six plants were seized.

He said a man in his 30s was arrested at a house in Pool Rise on suspicion of possessing cannabis. Drugs paraphernalia was seized.

All three were taken into custody at Shrewsbury Police Station for questioning.

Mr Lewis said that the warrants were carried out just after 7.30am by police accompanied by a member of Shropshire Social Services.

“They are the latest in a series of warrants recently carried out in Shrewsbury as part of the ongoing process to disrupt illegal drug activity,” he said.
