Public meeting over plan to sell Lake Vyrnwy
Monday 26th July 2010, 12:14PM BST.
People living around Lake Vyrnwy are expected to pack a public meeting tonight, which has been called amid worries over the sale of land surrounding the reservoir.
Severn Trent Water has put the 23,000 acre estate, which includes farms and other homes, up for sale with a £11 million price tag.
The sale has sparked fears for the future among the community many of whom rent their homes.
Llanwyddyn Community Council will hold a meeting at the village community centre at 7pm. Representatives from Severn Trent and agents, Knight Frank have been invited.
A campaign to raise funds to buy the estate has been set up on Facebook with thousands already pledged by supporters. Organiser Heledd Wyn Hardy said the suggestion was that people pledge £500, but she stressed supporters could pledge as little as they wanted.

Gwyndaf Richards, Llanwddyn Community Council clerk, said: “The sale affects a lot of people.”
County Councillor Simon Baynes said it was a chance for anyone worried about the sale to express their fears. He added: “Many of the farms and houses around the lake are owned by Severn Trent and will be part of the sale.”
