100 hit by Market Drayton power cut

More than 100 customers were without electricity for more than five hours in Market Drayton.

Power bosses said a fuse led to the fault, which was initially reported on Friday.

In a bid to repair the problem a spokesman for Central Networks said today they were forced to take 110 customers off the power supply on Saturday.

Many homes in the town had no power from about 9am until just after 2pm.

Victoria Blake, Central Networks spokesman said today the fault has been repaired and apologised for any inconvenience

She added: “There was a problem on Friday affecting 35 customers. There was a power cut at 8.11am caused by a fuse at a sub station. Those customers were back on by 9.55am.

“There were seven customers with ongoing problems. On Saturday we had to take off 110 customers at 8.57am to be able to repair the fault.”
