Foursome rough it out to help old school

Four intrepid fundraisers are taking on their own “I’m a Celebrity”  challenge – including gory bushtucker trials to earn food for the camp and preparing their own meals from scratch.

Tim Loft, Dave Francis, Rhian Davies and Debbie Aimson are camping out in the grounds of Corvedale Primary School in Diddlebury as part of a four-day I’m a Supporter Get Me Out Of Here event to raise cash for the school.

They have been in full view of pupils at school who have chosen their challenges for them – with the dreaded eat-off due to take place today.

Goodies in store for the participants include a bull’s penis, sheep’s testicles, fish eyes and pig ears.

Tasks already undertaken include a cave challenge at Manor Adventure and a satellite-based orienteering challenge on the Long Mynd.

Their challenge is based on the ITV show I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! which has seen a host of famous contestants, including Jimmy White, Kerry Katona and Peter Andre, battle it out for survival.

On Thursday night the four had to skin and prepare rabbits for their meal after earning three out of four stars from their daily task.

The King or Queen of the Corvedale will be announced on Sunday based on which of the quartet has raised the most money for sponsorship.

The person who has earned the most money in sponsorship each day will be “evicted” from the camp and their fundraising figure frozen until the final result is announced.

The camp is based at the school’s new outdoor classroom funded by the Supporters of Corvedale School, and the four spent a torrid night sleeping in hammocks during storms on Thursday.

Sam Goddard-Cockaday, chairman of SOCS, came up with the idea and said spirits had been high in the camp.

She said: “None of them are really outdoor types but they are all giving it a good go.

“As part of the Party in the Playground school event on Saturday they will be showing off ballroom dancing skills and the final two will have to take part in an eat-off, and we have a freezer full of goodies for that.”

Fundraisers are hoping to hit a £5,000 fundraising target for the school year. The Party in the Playground event will start at the school at 4pm today.

More details are available on the SOCS Facebook page, which can be found by visiting www.facebook.com and searching for “Supporters of Corvedale School”.
