Powys councillors meet to discuss 800 job losses
Thursday 15th July 2010, 12:46PM BST.
Councillors in Mid Wales were today due to meet to discuss plans to shed 800 jobs at Powys County Council.
The move, which will take place over the next four years, was being discussed at a full meeting of the council at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, today.
It is hoped most of the jobs will go through natural was-tage as it plans to shed 10 per cent of its 8,000-strong workforce between now and 2014 to help save £16 million.
Council bosses said they would do their best to avoid compulsory redundancies.
