Plan to drill for gas – near Ellesmere
Tuesday 13th July 2010, 11:40AM BST.
A bid for a major drilling operation to search for a methane gas source near Ellesmere has been made.
Composite Energy Ltd wants to create a borehole the size of half a football pitch north west of The Brooklands, Dudleston Heath, to assess the potential for a larger operation.
It is estimated the borehole project will contribute more than £230,000 to the local economy through employment and contracts.
The planning application has been sent to Shropshire Council.

I know. And it’s a fact that fills me with unbearable melancholy. It’s just when I saw the picture I could have sworn it was a circular craft with it’s landing gear down and lights blaring out of it’s multitude of windows…then I looked closer. Now my melancholy has returned even stronger. Woe is me!
