Thursday 8th July 2010, 12:18PM BST.
Two women and a man have appeared in court accused of the murder of Shropshire father-of-three Stephen Round, whose body was found on a rubbish tip.
James Haigh, 30, and Melissa Parkes, 21, both of Church Street, St Georges, Telford, and 27-year-old Zena Tinsley, of Barton Grange, Randlay, Telford, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.
They are accused of murdering Mr Round at some time between June 27 and July 2.
They spoke only to confirm their names and addresses during the hearing which lasted for approximately six minutes.
The three defendants were remanded in custody to appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday.
Members of Mr Round’s family were at yesterday’s hearing, including his father David Round, mother Ann Mohan and siblings David, Jason, Debbie and Tina.
The body of Mr Round, 43, was found at Granville landfill site at Redhill, Telford, last Friday.
Mr Round lived at alone at Hayward Avenue, St Georges.
He leaves a partner and three children aged 22, 17 and six.
Tributes have been paid to Mr Round by his family.
He was described as a “beautiful, kind and caring man”.
In a family statement Mrs Mohan and Mr Round said: “Stephen was a happy, caring person with a cheery smile and always a kind word.”
The family added: “We would also like to express our thanks to all the kind family and friends who have shown their support.
“But this has shown us what we already knew — just how loved our wonderful Stephen was.”
