Witness plea after Wellington attack

A man was pushed to the ground before being punched and kicked in the face after trying to intervene in a dispute while on a night out in Wellington.

The 20-year-old had left the Beacon pub and was on his way home when he came across a friend arguing in Market Square with an unknown man.

When he went to check his friend was okay he was pushed and fell to the ground where he was punched and kicked.

Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said he incident happened sometime between midnight and 1am on Friday.

The attacker is described as Asian, in his 20s, between 5ft 10 inches and 6ft tall and of stocky build. He is also described as having a shaved or bald head and wearing dark coloured clothes.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who knows the identity of the offender, can call police on 0300 333 3000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
