CCTV could be key to Ludlow assault

Police are studying CCTV footage in a bid to trace two men who attacked a man in Ludlow leaving him with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket.

The victim, who has not been named, needed surgery at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after the attack in an area between Sandpits and St Julian’s Avenue in the early hours of June 5.

Police say the man was walking back from a night out in Ludlow when two men approached him and became aggressive, before one struck him with either a fist or a hard object, in an unprovoked attack.

Officers have also renewed appeals for information

Maria Wilkinson, for West Mercia Police, said as part of the inquiry, police were looking at CCTV footage from various locations in the town from around the time of the assault.

She said no arrests have been made in connection with the incident and no-one has been charged.

She said: “We are examining CCTV footage from the town from the early hours of the Saturday morning in question. We are also still anxious to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault or who knows the identities of the two offenders.”

Anyone with information who witnessed the assault or who knows the identity of the attackers is urged to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
