Welsh arts groups in funding fears
Tuesday 15th June 2010, 10:31AM BST.

Two arts groups in Mid Wales could face funding cuts under new Welsh Assembly Government reviews.
Theatr Powys and Powys Dance are the two groups under threat from the review currently being carried out for the government by the Arts Council of Wales (ACW).
But Dee Stott, of Powys Dance, said members of the group were maintaining a positive outlook in the hope the planned cuts would not affect them too badly.
Miss Stott said: “Yes, we are all being reviewed by the ACW and there will no doubt be some funding cuts to some organisations, but this does not necessarily mean it is going to be us or Theatr Powys.
“We have a positive outlook on the matter and we are hoping everyone will join us with that.
“Our programme of events will still run this summer and we are hopeful to continue on into the future.”
The Assembly Government, which funds the arts council is currently in the process of conducting a major review considering its investment in arts.
Following the review, many existing arts organisations will have their funding from ACW withdrawn.
Betsan Mosef from Arts Council Wales, said: “At present the council doesn’t meet until June 25.
“We will be making an announcement on June 29.”
