Funds warning by 999 service

Saturday 12th June 2010, 9:50AM BST.

Shropshire fire chiefs are warning service funding could be cut by 10 to 15 per cent over the next five years.

The concerns are highlighted in the draft annual report of the Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Authority to be presented to members next Wednesday.

The report warns that the service is entering “the most economically challenging period to ever face all public services”.
