GKN Sankey ballot over strike

Friday 11th June 2010, 11:29AM BST.

More than 400 workers at Telford’s GKN Sankey plant in Hadley have been balloted on strike action in a dispute about pay.

Nigel Handley, from the Unite union, said: “A ballot was taken on strike action, or action short of strike action, over pay.”

He could not yet confirm the result of the ballot – run over 14 days – which closed on June 7.

Guy Stainer, spokesman for GKN Sanky, said: “They are still in discussions and it would be inappropriate to comment on it.”
