Football is theme for fundraising events
Thursday 10th June 2010, 11:29AM BST.
A Shropshire charity shop will be kicking off the World Cup month with lots of football themed events.
The Cancer Research UK shop, in Wellington, Telford, will be helping to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund, one of the charities sponsored this year by the England football team.
Supporters and customers are invited to join shop volunteers at a barbecue garden party at The Park Inn, on June 19.
The family fun event, starting at noon, will include a bouncy castle, penalty shoot-out games and a visit from ‘Mr Blobby’.
Jess Valentine, the event organiser, said: “This is going to be a great way for families to enjoy the football and join in the fun as well as helping to raise money.”
Customers will also have the chance to enter a raffle to win a football shirt signed by current England player Glen Johnson. Tickets cost £1 a strip and can be bought in the shop or at the event.
Holly Lancaster, shop manager, said: “The World Cup is all about bringing people together.”
