Footballer Craig Disley takes lead on violence
Wednesday 9th June 2010, 10:39AM BST.
A Shrewsbury Town football star was today due to show the red card to booze-fuelled domestic violence in a campaign launched in time for the World Cup.
Town’s Craig Disley has backed the West Mercia Police campaign to urge victims to make a stand and report it to the police.
Police chiefs said the number of alcohol-fuelled abuse incidents increased when England were playing, with many victims being abused at the hands of drunken partners.

Good on you Craig. Its a very sad fact that when (or if) England get knocked out of the World Cup, many women will be on the end of domestic violence from their “men” who cannot cope with the disappointment of England losing. They probably have more reason to hope that England win than anyone else.
