Drug factory Telford tenant is wanted by police
Wednesday 9th June 2010, 11:13AM BST.
This is the face of a man wanted by police after £200,000 worth of illegal drugs were discovered at the Shropshire house he was renting.
Mark Bizeray had paid the rent for the house in Hadley, Telford, just days before the haul of cannabis plants was found there.
Detectives said they had not been able to trace the 23-year-old since the discovery was made at the property in High Street on May 9. Mr Bizeray is understood to have connections in Wolverhampton, Doncaster and Hampshire.
Police were called to the property, which had been transformed into a cannabis factory with 200 plants, after they received reports of a burglary at the house. When they arrived there was no burglary taking place but they discovered the haul of cannabis plants being grown with the use of specialist lighting, heating and water supply.
Detective Constable Dean King, of Telford CID, said: “After speaking to the landlord of the property we have found that Mark Bizeray was paying rent to him and had made payments around May 1 or 2 and the drugs were discovered on May 9.
“We want to speak to Mr Bizeray as a matter of urgency in connection with this case. He was the last known tenant who was paying rent at this house so he is an important person of interest.
“We want to speak to him to find out if he knows anything about this incident.
“This involved a seizure of a substantial amount of drugs which has made a difference to the drugs supply on the streets of Telford.”
The person who made the call to police said two people wearing balaclavas were seen going into the property but on arrival there was no sign of a break-in or that anything had been stolen.
Mr King said the landlord was not involved in the cultivation of the drugs but rented out the house to Mr Bizeray believing it was being used for residential use.
Mr King warned landlords to ensure they knew who was living in their properties and what they were being used for. He said regular checks should be made to properties to ensure illegal activity was not taking place.
Anybody with any information about Mr Bizeray or the supply of drugs in Telford should call 0300 333 3000.
